Rob Edwards along with O'Neil are two of the early candidates in the frame to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday after the squad's ten-game without a victory beginning to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic associations to the club - are among the options to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would pose a possible obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the former Luton Town head coach - who played over a century of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is considered a leading contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves board as they start the search of hiring a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a shock appointment considering he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not be required to pay any compensation.
