Approximately 55,000 families have currently been impacted by the weather, with their possessions and shelters ruined.

Heavy precipitation over the recent period have worsened the precarious circumstances of the many hundreds of thousands of uprooted civilians in the region, as reported by aid groups.

"Horrendous" Night Brings Severe Risks

A representative described the previous night's conditions as "terrible", with downpours so intense that up to 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the terrain.

"Last night was truly terrible for the people. The heavy rains were so strong... And the winds were so strong," noted the official.

There is significant anxiety that children residing in temporary structures in soaked clothing will contract hypothermia and additional ailments.

Deaths and Extensive Destruction

Medical officials have stated that one baby has passed away from the cold and a minimum of 11 other people have died in building collapses triggered by the storms.

Other reports suggest a increased death toll. Officials said that numerous homes had totally fallen and many others had collapsed partially.

  • Roughly 55,000 families impacted by rains.
  • More than 40 emergency safe spaces severely flooded.
  • Many people compelled to find new shelter.

Assistance Efforts Considered Inadequate

Groups have escalated shipments of shelter, bedding and garments after the ceasefire started, but they have said there is still not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Officials are working relentlessly to bring in that relief and to allocate it, but the scale of the necessities is so enormous that we are faced with thousands of families and children who are genuinely enduring hardship each evening," cautioned one representative.

Ongoing Concerns and Ceasefire Terms

The subsequent part of the ceasefire involves proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the pullback of troops, and other terms.

Humanitarian bodies have highlighted the imperative for "increased and sustained relief to respond to pressing and ongoing requirements."

The war was initiated by an assault in October 2023. Later actions have led to a significant number of casualties in the territory, according to health ministry data.
