FC Barcelona Ready for First Game at Renovated Camp Nou over the weekend
Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host the Basque side in the Spanish league two and a half years after they moved out so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, up from the previous 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held a public practice at the Camp Nou in early November. The club said they were hoping for permission from Uefa to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht next month in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
