Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
