Canada's Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their maiden Fall Classic since the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the final seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Down by two runs, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh, propelling the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 triumph in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, our city, our country," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "This is such an amazing experience."

George Springer has now hit 23 post-season home runs, making him third on the list after Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of anyone else in the world that I want up in that moment besides George Springer with his October magic," said manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a championship series.

Wilson commented "without a doubt that it hurts" following his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but commended their work throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we ended up on the wrong side of this one," he added.

Toronto's team won the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Dodgers in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
